EWTN Press Release: CPA Awards
National Catholic Register
and EWTN Gain CPA Awards
and EWTN Gain CPA Awards
Held June 24-26 in Buffalo, N.Y., the annual awards recognize excellence in Catholic publishing on a diocesan and national level. Judging is conducted “by a group of experts and Catholic press professionals,” according to CPA guidelines.
For the second consecutive year, the Register won first place for Best Front Page, for its covers of April 20, May 4 and May 18. They were compiled by Editor in Chief Jeanette De Melo, Managing Editor Tom Wehner, Associate Editor Amy Smith, News Editor Tom McFeely and Graphic Artist Melissa Hartog.
“Edition after edition, the Register’s editors strive to put our very best on page one and it’s truly rewarding to see that hard work and creativity recognized by our Catholic media colleagues,” said De Melo.
The Register also won first place for its coverage of the crisis in Ukraine, written by Victor Gaetan.
CPA judges awarded the Register second place for General Excellence (national newspaper) and to film critic and blogger Steven D. Greydanus for Best Regular Column: Culture, the Arts, and Leisure. Greydanus won for his columns “Good Priest Walks Hard Road to ‘Calvary’,” “Rocking the Boat” and “Exodus Gods and Kings: Theological Reflections.”
The Register also won third place for Best News Writing Originating With the Paper on an International Event: “Syrian and Iraqi Refugee ‘Mega-Crisis’ Is Out of Control,” written by Washington Correspondent Peter Jesserer Smith; Best Regular Column: Culture, the Arts and Leisure for “Genetically Modified Food Bad, Genetically Modified Humans Good,” “Entering the Bionic Age: Why Be You When You Can Be New,” and “Shut Up and Be Grateful for Your Life: We Need to Listen To Children Conceived Through Third-Party Reproduction,” written by Rebecca Taylor; Best Coverage of Religious Liberty Issues, for “Silence in Nineveh,” and “Hobby Lobby Has Its Day in Court,” by Senior Editor Joan Frawley ,” and “Severing the Roots of the Liberty Tree,” by Martin Nussbaum and Eric Kniffin”; and for Best Explanation of the Church’s Position on Marriage, for “Gram Josephine: Witness to the Truth About Marriage,” Dennis Michael Manning,” “Asking the Right Question on Annulment Reform,” by Benedict Nguyen and “The Naturalness of Marriage,” by Donald DeMarco.
“We’ve got the finest bunch of writers in Catholic media in our pages,’ De Melo said. “The works CPA cited for excellence show the wide range of Register coverage — from serious reports on world events to the reasoned perspectives on cultural issues that touch our communities and even our own homes.”
Additionally, Greydanus was also a co-recipient with David DiCerto of a Gabriel Award for the Reel Faith television program on NET TV, run by the Diocese of Brooklyn.
EWTN, the Register’s parent organization, took home its second consecutive Gabriel Award for Religious Television Station of the Year and EWTN Radio won a certificate of merit for its show Blessed 2 Play.
“While we aren’t in journalism to collect a bunch of awards, we are here to tell the story of the Church today and cover the intersection of faith and public life,” said De Melo. “Nevertheless, it’s always gratifying to know we’re doing our job well. Congratulations to the Register staff, correspondents and bloggers for the fine journalism in service to the Church.”
The award-winning National Catholic Register (www.NCRegister.com) provides its readers with timely news reporting from across the United States, the Vatican, and around the world. As the newspaper of record for the Catholic Church in America, the Register and its online presence,NCRegister.com, have become America’s most complete and faithful Catholic news source. It is published bi-weekly, 26 issues per year. The National Catholic Register also produces Register Radio, a weekly program that airs on EWTN’s radio network.

Ahhh...protest art
Just some "protest art" folks, nothing to be concerned about.
During a news conference en route home to Rome on Sunday, Francis said he interpreted Morales' gift through the prism of Espinal's Marxist bent and viewed it as protest art.
After taking into consideration the time in which he lived, Francis said: "I understand this work. For me it wasn't an offense."
Francis added that he brought the crucifix home with him.

Christians with guns are distrusting says Pope Francis
The pope has once more spoken "off the cuff"... no, scratch that. He's once again gone off the rails.
At what point can we say "Shut up already"? Oh you know, I'm not the only one feeling this way. Every time the pope speaks we fight back a small shudder that rips through our spine because we instinctively know something distasteful will follow.
Yes, I am 100% fed up with this pope. I've had enough, so I am going to rant. If you don't want to hear anyone blasting the pope, stop reading this now.
The more this pope speaks the more insane he sounds to me. Who is actually speaking here? The pope or a demon using him? I'm serious.
How long will our Father in Heaven make us suffer under this pope?
The nonsense has gone on since he was elected...its been one thing after another with this guy. It's not only his off the cuff remarks, its his actions, in-actions and planned remarks. He tells us to shut up about abortion and birth control and start worrying about "sister earth" and how to save the planet from climate change, he happily accepts a communist crucifix gift and announces to the world that it doesn't offend him at all, he does numerous chaotic interviews that send the world into a tailspin, and he seems completely unconcerned with the Eucharist being passed around at mega-Masses like hot-dogs at a weenie roast.
He's made a fine mess of things. With nearly every action he takes and every word he speaks the insanity is growing and I have to wonder...just who is speaking here? A holy man or a puppet of the devil himself?
Now he's decided to target Christians who own guns and weapon manufacturers...
TURIN, Italy (Reuters) - People who manufacture weapons or invest in weapons industries are hypocrites if they call themselves Christian, Pope Francis said on Sunday.
Francis issued his toughest condemnation to date of the weapons industry at a rally of thousands of young people at the end of the first day of his trip to the Italian city of Turin.
"If you trust only men you have lost," he told the young people in a long, rambling talk about war, trust and politics after putting aside his prepared address. <- mistake #1
"It makes me think of ... people, managers, businessmen who call themselves Christian and they manufacture weapons. That leads to a bit a distrust, doesn't it?" he said to applause.
He also criticized those who invest in weapons industries, saying "duplicity is the currency of today ... they say one thing and do another."
"who call themselves Christian"...? Really Father? Who are YOU to judge? Does that line only work with gays?
"Leads to a bit of mistrust"... gee ya think Holy Father? Rule #1: don't show up to a gun fight with a toothpick. Innocent citizens are being killed by criminals with guns- we can't protect ourselves from these despicable criminals if we have no weapons.
I wonder how long it would take ISIS or another terrorist group to attack Vatican City if the Pope got rid of the Swiss Guard and all weapons from the city??
I bet they would be attacked in less than 24 hours.
So I'm guessing he's not going to un-arm HIS Swiss Guard who currently are extremely WELL armed to protect him from harm anytime soon.
But for the rest of us serfs we must be unarmed and unprotected because calling ourselves Christian and having a weapon is somehow incompatible.
I can't help but ask myself, is this pope delusional? What earth he's living on...it can't be the same one I am living on. He sees white, I see black. He says its up, I see it's down.
I just don't understand him...and sadly, I pray to God I never do because his sort of Catholicism is NOT what I fell in love with.
I wish he would spend less of his time opining on secular issues, and more time doing what Christ commissioned the Church to actually do... save souls from damnation.
In Christ,

Archdiocese of New Orleans has a gay problem
There is something seriously wrong with the Archdiocese of New Orleans.
Namely, they speak with a forked tongue.
How can any Catholic understand what the Catholic Church's teaching is when they look to the Archdiocese of New Orleans' website for answers?
On their website, in the LBGT section they have a (what should be simple) Q&A section presumably to help people understand the Catholic Church's teachings on homosexuality.
For example...here are a few questions some Catholics might wonder about that the Archdiocese of New Orleans completely FAILS to correctly answer.
First up...
Q: Does a person commit a sin if he/she engages in sexual activity outside of marriage?
(now remember, this is in the LBGT question/answer section)
Answer from the Archdiocese of New Orleans:
You get that last one? "...people who are so predominately homosexual that they will be in serious personal and perhaps social trouble unless they attain a steady partnership within their homosexual lives, one can recommend them to seek such a partnership..."
The Church (or at least the Archdiocese of New Orleans) is RECOMMENDING that in some situations homosexuals need to have a "partnership within their homosexual lives".
There is more to this section:
Head reeling yet? There's more...much, much more.
Q: Can an OPENLY GAY person be a faithful Catholic?
Now, before I get to the Archdiocese of New Orleans' answer (which if you are thinking is a quote from the Catholic Church's catechism- you'd be wrong) let me point out the key words here "openly gay". Generally speaking these are NOT the chaste gay folks living chaste and celibate lives. "Openly gay" usually means having gay relationships and in many cases in a gay union (no such thing as a gay "marriage"- I don't care what the Supreme Court says).
Here is the response at the Archdiocese of New Orleans website which refuses to tell people that homosexual acts can/do lead people to damnation:
Who thinks "openly gay" means chaste gay people who are living celibate lives and support Church teaching?
Here's another Q&A from the Archdiocese of New Orleans...
Q: Does the Bible condemn homosexuality?
You'd think that would be an easy one...not for the Archdiocese of New Orleans. Seems they believe there is some wiggle room.
Answer from the Archdiocese of New Orleans website:
*there is a much longer answer to this question on the website, but it all says the same thing.
The website gets even worse.
They have a LBGT Catholic Ministry which has a Facebook page.
On that Facebook page they endorse a ministry called "Gay Christians"
..."Gay Christians" is founded by this guy...
John Maddox. He's not a Catholic priest. But who is he?
He's got a link to his website: gaychurch.org
The Archdiocese of New Orleans' LBGT Catholic Ministry doesn't just endorse this guys t-shirt selling for gay youth...they also have him as their guest speaker after the "3rd Wednesday every month gay Mass"...
It doesn't stop there... apparently this "non-denominational pastor" is also responsible for updating the Archdiocese of New Orleans' website.
Check out whose name appears...
I did a little more clicking around and found...
Billy Seeser and John Maddox are gay lovers/partners according to one of their several gay Facebook pages.
So the Archdiocese of New Orleans and their LBGT Catholic Ministry (per their Facebook page) are endorsing the ministries of John Maddox's "Gay Christians" by asking people to support Maddox' s "Gay Christians" ministry with the purchase of one of their t-shirts AND they have him [John Maddox] as their "positive affirmation" speaker at their LBGT meetings following their gay Mass.
Just what is going on with the Archdiocese of New Orleans?
Why doesn't the Archdiocese of New Orleans answer homosexual questions with the clear teachings of the catechism?
I know why...the LBGT don't like the clear teachings of the catechism, so they seek out other blurred answers so they can continue in their sinful relationships and promote the same with others seeking the Church's answers to these questions.
The Archdiocese of New Orleans website is DECEPTIVE and MISLEADING.
Is the Bishop fully aware of what is being promoted on the Archdiocese OFFICIAL website and it's LBGT Catholic Ministries Facebook page?
I would have given the Archbishop the benefit of the doubt until I read that a GOOD priest in his diocese CORRECTLY refused the Eucharist to a gay "married" man at a funeral. The gay man then whined (like they all do) to the Archbishop who APOLOGIZED to the man for having Holy Communion denied to him while he was in a state of mortal sin.
No, I'm not making it up.
Full story here: http://theadvocate.com/news/12939016-123/married-gay-man-describes-denial
There is a rot in the Archdiocese of New Orleans and someone needs to clean it up - clearly it won't be the Archbishop.

Julie @ Connecticut Catholic Corner
In Addition: How about showing the good Fr. Mark Beard your support for denying the gay "married" man the Holy Eucharist? Send him an email at: sthelenacatholic@bellsouth.net
UPDATE: 24 Hours after writing this post, the Archdiocese of New Orleans has removed the LBGT "fact" page and shut down the LBGT Catholic Ministry Facebook page.
**To those of you who tried the links and see they no longer work and now are questioning whether or not this stuff is true [I did NOT lie about what was on that website] - here is a link to the cached Archdiocese of New Orleans website- you can STILL see it all:

Catholic surfing (7/20/15)
I'm an insomniac.
When I can't sleep I "Catholic surf" the Internet. Most of the time I find some really wonderful things. Sometimes I find very disturbing things.
You'll see both in today's post.
1) My first stop is a virtual tour of St. John Cantius Catholic Church in Chicago- WOW! I spent a great deal of time enjoying this virtual tour...
When you click the tour to begin, wait a few seconds it will get going on its own and allow you a full view of everything - up close to the altar and even up into the balcony.
Tour: http://www.cantius.org/go/news/detail/virtual_experience_of_saint_john_cantius_church/
****
Sadly my Catholic surfing was mostly all downhill after that...
2) The Catholic Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Georgia is a full on "gay pride" Catholic parish...
***
3) Our Lady of Lourdes in Daytona, Florida seems to feel that all religions are equal...
***
4) And the Paulist Center in Boston, MA... in place of a crucifix they have a "naked floating Jesus" floating passed a tree?... I think- you tell me, what does it look like to you?
They also have a "cube altar" and dancing girls...[what I don't see in any of their photos is a Tabernacle]
And they refer to the Dalai Lama as "his holiness"...
To end on a more uplifting note... from my last post [The Archdiocese of New Orleans has a gay problem], the Archdiocese of New Orleans has not only shut down its LGBT "fact" page on its website, it also shut down its LGBT Catholic Ministry Facebook page that flaunted its "gay pride"...
Buh-bye! I couldn't be happier about that! :)
I am planning on making "Catholic surfing" a regular feature on this blog.

2nd PP video calls for "less crunchy" methods of abortion
Another Planned Parenthood "doctor" gets caught negotiating prices for baby parts.
She's very concerned about someone "low balling" the price of baby parts and her not getting the best price.
After she's haggled over money...she then talks which methods would be best for getting 'whole specimens' (baby parts). She's looking for a "less crunchy" method that won't ruin specimens.
If the specimen is ruined...no or less money.
And she's doing this because...ha...ha...ha...she wants...
Despicable.
I pray that the powers that be in Congress put an end to funding this human butchering business and arrests are made.

Virgin Mary statues and images moving around the globe
Over night in my email I received two stories about "moving Mary miracles" according to some anyway.
Personally, I don't see it, but I'm going to share them for others to judge for themselves.
What I will say, in this first one...if true about the miracles of healing [deaf 33 years now can hear, lame can walk, stroke victim in perfect health now and husbands returning to wives - marriages healed etc], it would not surprise me and I would be more inclined to believe this story then the next one.
One woman calls this the "second Lourdes"...maybe it will be.

Now this one... Mary's moving lips during prayer...
I think its just the camera/optical illusion, but again, you decide...

Patheos' Kathy Schiffer fails to take down Michael Voris
It's summer and Patheos Catholic's blogger Kathy Schiffer has once again stepped into it by going after Michael Voris half cocked.
She starts by showing her ignorance in referring to Michael Voris as a "controversial blogger"! :)
Then she attempts to take Voris down over a Vortex episode from earlier this week...
Her complaint about this Vortex episode? I think its that the seminary didn't like Voris saying "gay" when the person in question said "same-sex attracted" [is there a difference in meaning here?], but I can't be sure, Schiffer never actually makes any point in her blog post.
Here is the statement she claims to have received from Sacred Heart seminary...
So is it the use of the word "gay" rather than "same-sex attracted" that has Schiffer riled up or the number of homosexuals in the seminary? Who can tell?
Schiffer then shifts gears to going after Voris personally, with a trip down memory lane in the life of Michael Voris along with the name change from "Real Catholic TV" to "Church Militant" and then she goes on about how Michael came back more fully to his Catholic faith with the deaths of his brother and mother. What has any of that got to do with the Vortex episode that upset Schiffer so much? Answer: ZERO, NADA, NOTHING.
This Vortex episode and the seminary statement are just her jumping off tools to the heart of the matter...her attempt to take down or put Michael Voris in his place.
She fails.
Michael Voris clearly and perfectly takes down every point the stir the original Vortex episode caused...including the drivel from Kathy Schiffer.
Here it is...
And that was that! ;)
Well done Church Militant...keep up the great work!

Here it is...
[From ChurchMilitant.com] TRANSCRIPT: Out of the gate, allow us to say that the Vortex we produced earlier this week where we briefly touched on comments about same-sex attraction made to seminarians at the archdiocese of Detroit major seminary has caused quite the stir in the archdiocese.
As we predicted in the Vortex episode (it turns out more accurately than we knew), some would take this report as picking on or singling out Detroit’s seminary. And as we said then, and repeat: not true. We said then — and again repeat — this was one example of a persistent problem in the Church establishment: the catering to the feelings of homosexual men, also more clinically stated — men with same-sex attraction.
We correctly reported that a priest on staff told seminarians not to go in and out of the bathroom showers in towels because it posed a potential occasion of sin for other seminarians who may have same-sex attraction. They should wear their bathrobes instead. In other words, there are men in the seminary for whom the sight of other men half-dressed (which is a normal, everyday occurrence in a dormitory-like setting) could be a temptation to impurity, or at least impure thoughts.
Men studying for the priesthood who are tempted by such sights should not be in seminary. As Fr. John Hardon often said — and many others have repeated because they understand the common sense reality — the most dangerous place for a man with homosexual tendencies is a seminary. We used this as nothing more than just one example as a springboard to discuss the much larger issue of how homosexuality is practically catered to by many leaders in the Church today and the great damage that catering is doing.
That was it. That was our point, a point we have stressed over and over again — much to the chagrin and rage of many clerics, but also the quiet and joyful support of many other clerics who understand the reality of the homosexual subculture in the clergy. In fact, our example of what the priest told the entire assembled house of seminarians amounted to less than 20 percent of that Vortex. More than 80 percent of it went on to lay out the case that for decades in the U.S., priests and bishops have set the stage for this ocean of homosexuality to overwhelm the Church, both culturally as well as inside the Church. Not one single, sane, understanding person would disagree with that assessment.
That Vortex episode resulted in a flurry of comments and back-and-forth e-mails and phone calls among all kinds of people in the archdiocese. We took great interest in one particular correspondence which was sent our way by multiple sources, both within and outside the archdiocese.
It was a 700-word e-mail to the entire faculty/staff of the seminary by the priest who made the comments we reported on. Out of charity we did not publicize his name. And unless it becomes necessary, we will continue to adhere to that. However, we are going to share some of his e-mail to the faculty/staff with you to show you how it completely evades the question we were raising.
First, he flat out admits that the event we reported was correct in its essence. He said, "The issue arose because I saw several of the men go to the shower from their room with only a towel wrapped around them. I received complaints from other seminarians about this."
That's what we reported.
Next: "I said, in these words or words of identical meaning: Please wear bathrobes to the shower for decorum's sake and for the sake of charity. As an example of what the wider needs of the community might be, I used as an example of potential uncharity the following example: What if unknowingly one of your brothers suffered from SSA? Your lack of modesty would be uncharitable considering your neighbor's needs."
That too is what we reported.
But the priest in question throughout his e-mail to the entire faculty/staff at Sacred Heart Major Seminary bashed our report. He spent a large amount of his e-mail saying he was pretty sure who had contacted us and then trashing the fellow who was eventually kicked out. He even said at one point that the way we reported it sounds pretty darn close to how the former seminarian talked about the situation.
Normally, we would never follow up on a report like this because it isn't worth the effort. But one phrase in his e-mail to the entire faculty/staff so jumped out that it needs to be unpacked. It is this: "As an aside, in a group of sixty men, the notion that none of the men suffer from homosexual ideation is naïve. It may be helpful for Mr. Voris to grow up."Excuse me, Father, but you just underscored our point. We need no lecture that there are men in seminaries who have homosexual tendencies. In fact, we would prefer to have been naïve in this regard. The presence in decades gone by of the strong homosexual subculture is all too evident — Detroit included, with its weekly gay Mass which has been allowed to continue for over 40 years. We know very well the issue and dangers posed by this. We report on it almost everyday. What grabbed us about your e-mail was the lack of any mention that you do your best to screen outmen who have this tendency — as the Vatican has said over and over, all the way back in the modern ear to Pope John XXIII and virtually every pope since then. Far from our being naïve, it seems that you are the one demonstrating the naïveté. You tell men in your charge studying to offer themselves as living sacrifices to God that they should put on bathrobes so as not to be occasions of sin for fellow seminarians.Further, you made a deal out of it by announcing to the entire seminary. Why didnt you announce that if any among them are bothered by seeing other men in towels that perhaps the seminary is not the place for them?
Pope John XXIII said such men should not be in seminary. When he was still Cardinal Ratzinger, Pope Benedict said the same thing and then repeated it again as Pope, as did his predecessor Pope John Paul. The seminary is not the place for any man who has homosexual tendencies, even if hes not acting on them. Havent leaders learned this lesson yet? The Vatican itself has warned about this repeatedly. We neither think nor said that Sacred Heart Major Seminary is a hotbed for, as you put it, a significant or even nominal presence of homosexually oriented men." Never said that. Never implied it. Never went there.
We weren't talking about the seminarians. We were referencing your approach, not them. You formulated your approach to the situation of men in towels as being uncharitable to those who might have SSA. Your own words again from your e-mail to the entire staff/faculty in this regard: "I brought this up at the house meeting because I want the men to learn, recognizing the charity they are called to grow in, consists in not simply considering their own druthers, but to be cognizant of the needs of the wider family."What about the charity that should be extended to the SSA man? He should not be allowed to remain in an environment where normal, usual behavior is an occasion of sin for him. Is there not charity demanded from the formation team to remove him from such a spiritual danger? What about giving further some consideration to the idea that he might not be alone in his tendency? You yourself said it would be naïve to expect in a house of 60 men to expect that none of them suffer from SSA.What if two or more men with this emotional, psychological disorder somehow come to encounter each other? There is precedent (and there is a lot of it in the Detroit archdiocese — but we will leave that aside for the time). What about the horrible possibility that instead of being dismissed from the seminary, that he, God forbid, would be ordained? Catholics expect that their leaders send them good and holy priests, not let loose suffering souls on them in positions of leadership who can wreak havoc on the innocent sheep. Again, much precedent. This is the attitude of leaders that we presented as a topic and nothing else: that homosexuality gets too much of a pass by those in the Church today.
So, all this said, in response to your e-mail to the entire faculty/staff (which was shared with us by multiple sources), we are extending you a personal invitation to come on our Mic’d Up show next week and have a man-to-man conversation about all of this — all these issues we raised.
Does Sacred Heart Seminary take pains to screen out men with homsoexual tendencies as the Vatican as well as various popes have said all seminaries should?
Is it appropriate to announce that all the seminarians put on bathrobes instead of kindly suggesting that men affected spiritually should simply withdraw?
Near the end of your e-mail to the faculty/staff, you wrote, "I realize some of the topics we cover may be offensive to pious ears, but not addressing them is even more problematic."
We agree. In light of the constant scandals regarding homosexuality and the clergy, these issues need to be talked about. So many people are constantly pounding the dialogue drum — so let’s dialogue.
And that was that! ;)
Well done Church Militant...keep up the great work!
In Christ,

Woman threatens to sue Church to be godFATHER to nephew
A confused Catholic woman in Spain, who thinks and is pretending to be a man, has been denied the possibility of being a godparent [make that 'godfather' to be precise] to her nephew.
Alex Salinas is a 21 year old female (DNA don't lie) who is going through life pretending to be a man.
Salinas is planning on suing the Catholic Church for "discriminating" against her because she says she's a man and believes the Church is not allowing her to be a godFATHER based on her documents [that were changed a few months ago] that say she's a man even when her DNA and genitalia says she's a woman.
Got that?
A woman, pretending to be a man, wants to force Christ's Holy Catholic Church to deny a truth [her DNA is female] and accept a lie [that she is a he] as a truth and then allowher errr...him to be a godfather.
Insanity. Pure insanity.
The Church hasn't said it turned her down as godFATHER because of her declarations she is a man.
The priest reminded Salinas that to be a godparent a person must "be Catholic, be confirmed, have received the holy sacrament of the Eucharist and, at the same time, live a life congruent with faith and the mission they are assuming."
I think its pretty clear that Salinas is not living a life "congruent" with the Catholic faith. Salinas isn't even living a life "congruent" with her own DNA and body parts!
Don't you just love "assigned female at birth, but is now living as his authentic self as a man"?
The ridiculousness of the statement "assigned female at birth" is only out-done by the hordes of delusional people who actually believe this tripe. She wasn't "assigned female at birth", she was determined by her DNA at her conception to be female. She will always be female. No drugs, no surgeries, no wearing men's clothes, no government documents...NOTHING will change her DNA from female to male. She is female.
There is nothing "authentic" about denying DNA [scientific proven fact] in order to live a fantasy you've made up in your head and then attempt to force everyone else in the world to believe.
Instead of getting mental help to accept who SHE really is...she [like other transgenders and their supporters] demands that the world reject scientific fact of her DNA and instead believe whatever fantasy she's cooked up. And if we don't accept her fantasy, she will sue us.
I want to ask "How ridiculous can we get?" but I'm terrified of what the answer might be.
If Salinas is so confused as to what she actually is, how in the world could she be a good godparent [even godmother at this point] teaching and living the Catholic faith to a child?
Yet when a mentally disordered person denies the scientific fact of their DNA for a lie, the world is supposed to accept the lie as truth and pretend we don't all know the woman is a woman no matter what her "documents" say.
Insanity.
When will the world come back to reality and stop living in a fantasy realm where everyone makes up their own 'truth' and then attempts to force the rest of us to believe it?
God help us.

Quote: "Salinas predicts filing a complaint before the courts because he does not consider it "just" for the Church to treat him "like someone different."How ironic. Her DNA is female, the Church accepts that she is female and she "predicts" suing the Church because she is being treated "like something different". If the Church said to a man...say President Obama, 'We refuse to accept you are a man, we are going to call you a woman', the world would be rightly outraged because the Church would be denying a truth - a scientific fact proven by DNA.

Why did the Catholic Church flip-flop on weddings?
Over at the National Catholic Register, Patti Armstrong writes an article asking clergy and laity whether or not Catholics should attend a wedding outside the Catholic Church between a baptized Catholic and a non-Catholic.
I'd like to share the clear teachings the Church once heldand taught to Catholics on the subject of 'mixed marriages', weddings outside the Church and Catholics assisting or participating in such marriages.
I've mentioned many times, that I collect and adore old Catholic books. These are the sort of books that weigh a ton and were published by the Church for teaching. One such book is "The Manual of The Holy Catholic Church; Embracing The Beautiful Teachings and The Light From the Altar", published in 1906 by the Catholic Art and Publication Office of Chicago, Ill. published with the approbation of The Most Rev. James Edward Quigley, D.D. Archbishop of Chicago in 1906. It is this book I am quoting from today (highlights are mine).
I'd like to point out that one type of "unlawful marriage" is (according to another passage in this book there are several different types of "unlawful" marriages) a marriage between a Catholic and a non-Catholic outside the Church without proper permission.
The part that says "No Catholic, is however, at liberty to act as official witness to a marriage unlawful before God..." begs to be answered (at least in my mind) how could a once considered "unlawful marriage" suddenly become lawful when nothing has changed but the opinion of the Church?
If God thought these marriages were "unlawful" for centuries and the Church forbid Catholics from participating in them what changed? Did God change His opinion on what an unlawful marriage is or did the Church change it's opinion thus changing its teaching? What basis was used to change this point of view?
I guess the question then would be 'what constitutes a witness'?
Guests at a wedding are witnesses to the ceremony, are they not?
What was once forbidden is now celebrated.
To see the complete turn around on this Catholic teaching to what is now allowed visit: http://catholicdoors.com/misc/marriage/canonlaw.htm
Reading all of this brings several questions to my mind...
First, are we better off now having completely turned around the Church's position on mixed marriages and ceremonies than we were decades ago?
How many Catholics attend the weddings of people who are 'remarrying' after a divorce without an annulment? Do they discuss this in Confession with their priest? If they did...what would he tell them?
And finally, is it any wonder at all, that progressives wrongly believe and hope that one day the Church will change its teachings on gay 'marriage'?

The reason behind the debate is because the Code of Canon Law states: “Only those marriages are valid which are contracted before the local [bishop], pastor or a priest or deacon delegated by either of them who assist, and before two witnesses” (1108 §1).Canon law does not prohibit Catholics from attending invalid weddings, Father Pacwa [EWTN] explained, but he said that Catholics must discern carefully. “Every situation will call upon our reserves of prayer, discernment and evaluation,” he said. “And a good confession before making any decision is always a good idea.”According to him, maintaining peace within families is very important, but there is also the question of motive: “Are they trying to put me in an uncomfortable position to prove their point? Or do they simply not see that there is an issue at stake?”Many opinions are given...but little Catholic documentation.

James Edward Quigley, D.D. Archbishop of Chicago in 1906. It is this book I am quoting from today (highlights are mine).
"It is frequently asked if it is allowable for Catholics to act as bridesmaids or groomsmen at any marriage, whether in a church or in a private house at which the ceremony is conducted by a Protestant minister, or at a purely civil marriage? 'As to the question, viz., whether Catholics may lawfully act as bridesmaids or grooms at Protestant or civil marriages, we should answer; A Catholic is at liberty to act as official witness to a lawful marriage contract, if the assistance does not imply assent to conditions otherwise forbidden in conscience. Hence if two persons, who are not baptized, choose to marry before a magistrate, exercising their natural right, which a Catholic reasonably respects, he is at liberty to attest such a marriage by his presence as an official witness, just as he might attest to any other lawful and solemn contract. Here there is no denial of faith. No Catholic is, however, at liberty to act as official witness to a marriage unlawful before God, such as the marriage ceremony of a divorced party already rightly married according to Christian or the natural law; or a party that is Catholic and publicly denies his or her faith by neglecting the sacramental rite in favor of a purely civil ceremony before the magistrate, unless there be no priest to perform the rites of the Church; or a party that is leading a scandalous life which would justify the prospect of shame, divorce, or neglect; for though such person may not pretend to any religious convictions, and protest their mere intention to make a natural mutual contract, yet prudence and respect for the moral order should forbid a Catholic to assist at such marriage contracts. A third principle, already explained in the answer to the question whether a double religious ceremonial is permissible, forbids Catholics to take part in any marriage ceremony which bears the character of religious worship other than that of the Catholic Church. Hence a Catholic may not lawfully assist at a marriage in a Protestant church which is intended to have a religious aspect."

Bishop Huonder persecuted for quoting Sacred Scripture
![]() |
Image from: https://www.facebook.com/pinkcross |
Though the Church is no stranger to persecution, its still difficult (at least for me) to witness the insanity of the secular world attacking the Catholic Church and Her clergy for reading the Bible!
Insane!
Over in Switzerland, Bishop Huonder has once again (he must be used to this by now) become the focus of an attack by gay Nazi's the "Pink Cross" for reading Sacred Scripture and denouncing gay 'marriage'.
The good Bishop has in the past been called assorted names for not wanting 4 year old's in public school to be subjected to sex education so graphic its offensive to most adults!
Last Friday, the Bishop of Chur gave a talk based on Catholic teaching and Sacred Scripture against same sex 'marriages' and the gay Nazi's Pink Cross brigade showed its tolerance for others who believe differently than they do by demanding an apology and seeking criminal charges for a 'hate crime' against the Catholic Bishop for reading the Bible.
The 73 year old Bishop Huonder dared to read a few passages in Sacred Scripture from Leviticus stating that same sex sexual relations are an abomination to God and hence these scripture back up Catholic teaching.
At no time did the Bishop say the Catholic Church was calling for the death penalty for homosexuals under the old covenant Jewish law- but you wouldn't know that from the insanity coming out of the hateful intolerant gay Pink Cross organization in Switzerland. The focus of the Bishop's talk was FAMILY and what constitutes a marriage (1 man + 1 woman) not the death penalty required under Jewish Old Testament Law.

For daring to read two verses of Leviticus from the Bible, the gay Nazi's Pink Cross brigade want the Bishop arrested under "hate crimes" because "representatives of the church do not live in a legal vacuum".
Since when is a member of clergy (be it Catholic or Protestant) not allowed to read the Bible in a church or anywhere else? Has society learned nothing from history? Are we always doomed to repeat the worst of history while tossing out the best?
The Catholic Church and other Christian communities are built on the teachings of God - how would a Christian community exist if it were forbidden from reading its own Sacred texts?

But that is the intent isn't it?
To silence Christianity, keeping people in the dark so that evil prevails.
To silence Christianity, keeping people in the dark so that evil prevails.
What is this world coming to when clergy can no longer read the Bible for fear of arrest?
We are in a time of martyr making.
Pray for Bishop Huonder and pray for the ignorant people belonging to the 'Pink Cross' that they might gain wisdom before their own doom.

Thoughts on the GOP Debate
First thought...what debate?
I guess it was because there were so many people, but I didn't really see a "debate" tonight.

I think she won the first round of 'debates' hands down and from reading Twitter I am not alone in my opinion.
In the prime time slot, most eyes were on Trump and I have to say he held his own without going off on anyone- came close with Megyn Kelly who was (in my opinion) looking to tick people off. The wording of the questions was bizarre... so contrived to be hard and tough because they know the rest of the media goes soft on Hillary and other Democrats that it left me with a bad taste for Fox New's idea of a debate.
On that Fox News gets a "complete failure" award for the "debate" tonight with Megyn Kelly at the top.

Speaking of failures...
Rand Paul... there no other words but "GO AWAY YOU'RE BOTHERING ME" - and he can take Chris Christie with him on his way out. I really dislike these two politicians.
Huckabee had a lot of good things to say- most will never happen, but at least the guy has a dream and a plan (which is more than I can say about some of the others).
Nothing new from Rubio (who bores me) or Cruz (who I like but know will never get elected).
While I like Santorum, I think he's a great guy...he's also a snooze fest I am sorry to say. He never does anything to stand out or get the attention he needs to win.
I still like Walker...he just goes up and up in my opinion.
Ben Carson... never. He's not presidential material. He'd be great as Secretary of Health and Human Services...but not president.
Trump...let's face it he will never be president, because the establishment GOP will never allow that to happen-they'd rather let him run as an independent, divide voters and lose the election than get behind Trump, but I love the guy for speaking his mind and not being PC. He's refreshing even if he's rude. I hope he sticks around...just to stir things up. ;)
Perry...nothing new. I am tired of him fighting in the sandbox with Trump. If he spent half as much of his time tossing barbs at Hillary and the Democratic party instead of Trump I might pay some attention to him...but right now, he's off my radar completely.
Kasich... what a mixed bag. If he would actually be the Catholic he claims he could be great...instead he's just another cafeteria Catholic no better than Pelosi or Biden. He's not to be trusted.
That leaves Jeb Bush... who I think we will all be left with whether we want him or not - and I don't. Not because he's another Bush, I don't give a crap about how many family members run for anything I look at each person as the individual they are. I can't get passed this Catholic supporting Common Core- that's a big problem for me. Also, I don't think Jeb would undo most of the damage Obama has created...I think Jeb would look forward at what he wants to do, without first cleaning up the mess Obama has/is creating. That would be a major mistake and I think set his entire first term off on the wrong foot. So, it's a 'no way to Jeb' for me.
Gotta say... at this early date, I am liking a Walker/Fiorina team. Having a strong woman will deflate the Democrat's delusional 'war on women' attacks and Walker being a governor is a huge plus for me- I think governors always make better presidents than senators.
So those are my early thoughts based on tonight's Fox News Channel GOP debate.

Erick Erickson has drawn a decency line...
...I just don't know where that decency line actually is.
I was shocked at what I found.
Seems he's quickly run out of Trump love, though I am not sure I really understand considering Erickson's favorable tweets about Trump during the Fox News GOP debate on Thursday night.
For example...
Notice that all of these tweets are well into the debate... long after Megyn Kelly started the debate with a list of insults Trump has tossed out at women over the years (Trump claimed it was only directed at Rosie O'Donnell). *Erickson's opinion of Trump never wavered over the insults directed at assorted women from Trump. Erickson even tweeted that Trump was "hilarious".
*This is my confusion.
Now today, Erickson has dis-invited Trump to his RedState Gathering...
...because Trump's remark about Megyn Kelly was a bridge too far?
Really?
What remark? I looked around the Internet first finding an article by the Washington Post that saw insults everywhere from Trump against Kelly.
Here are some supposed terrible, horrible, unforgivable insults from Trump about Megyn Kelly according to the Washington Post...
Now, I don't see an insult in saying he believed Megyn Kelly's "behaviour at the #GOPDebate was astonishingly biased"...or that he believed Kelly "bombed" (I think she did too) or that he thinks she was the "biggest loser" coming out of the debate (I said the same thing the night of the debate- hours before Trump did).
But apparentlythose tweets weren't the ones that changed Erickson's mind about having Trump attend his RedState Gathering. It was a comment made by Trump on CNN.
Here is Erickson's explanation:
"He [Trump] is not a professional politician and is known for being a blunt talker. He connects with so much of the anger in the Republican base and is not afraid to be outspoken on a lot of issues. But there are even lines blunt talkers and unprofessional politicians should not cross.Decency is one of those lines. As much as I do personally like Donald Trump, his comment about Megyn Kelly on CNN is a bridge too far for me.In a CNN interview, Mr. Trump said of Megyn Kelly, “You could see there was blood coming out of her eyes. Blood coming out of her wherever.”It was not the “blood coming out of her eyes” part that was the problem."
Ok. I am good with a person drawing a line in the sand and saying "Decency is one of those lines" you don't cross. My problem is Erickson didn't care when the insults were directed at other women. He only took exception when the (crude) insult was directed at Megyn Kelly. What's with that? Some women are OK to insult and others aren't?
Why the hypocrisy?
Is it because the insult said on CNN by Trump mentioned "blood"? Was that the line of "decency" not to be crossed while calling other women "fat pigs, dogs, disgusting animals and slobs" is perfectly fine with Erickson? "Hilarious" even?
Was Trump making a crude reference to Kelly possibly suffering a bout of PMS? I really have no idea, and its not the point.
I am no Rosie O'Donnell fan, but why was it OK with Erickson when Trump was insulting O'Donnell and other women calling them slobs, pigs etc, but suddenly there is a "line of decency" you don't cross when an insult is tossed at Megyn Kelly?
That's the part I don't get.
Be consistent.
If you're a man and you're going to be outraged over women being insulted then stick up for all women being insulted. That would be the decent thing to do. And not saying "most monkeys are smarter than women" (see below) would be a good place to start.

Archbishop of Detroit going soft on Holy Communion?
In 2013, Archbishop Vigneron of Detroit said "...Catholics who back same-sex marriage and receive Communion would 'logically bring shame for a double-dealing that is not unlike perjury' in a Free Press article. Of course, this caused the progressive self-declared "catholics" fits of outrage which they expressed by picketing the Archbishop's office.
In a supposed email to Detroit Free Press, the Archbishop said, “Whenever it comes to Communion, the objective is never to steer a person away,” which of course has progressives and gay advocates in a titter declaring (get this) "...it's a Jesus response".
So once more, the ignorant progressives in the Church, emboldened by Pope Francis' now infamous words "Who am I to judge?" have decided the Archbishop's "softer tone" means the "communion table" is open for anyone with a clear conscience.
That my friends is Protestantism, not Catholicism. It's the "be your own pope" mentality.
For these folks, when the Archbishop was correctly cautioning people about Holy Communion he was bad...but when he says the "objective is never to steer a person away [from Holy Communion]" then he's speaking as Jesus would?
Bull hockey.
The Archbishop was right in 2013 and wrong now- if he did in fact write such an email stating it is "never" the objective "to steer a person away" from Holy Communion. That is wrong. There are of course MANY TIMES when people should be turned from Holy Communion- namely when they are in a state of mortal sin! Any mortal sin...gay "marriage", they had/performed an abortion, fornication, adultery etc., the list goes on.
If an open (public) heretic is receiving Holy Communion they are also guilty of the sin of scandal (think Pelosi & Biden). Priests knowing these things should deny them Holy Communion.
"I too raise my voice, I beseech, beg and implore that no one draw near to this sacred table with a sullied and corrupt conscience. Such an act, in fact, can never be called "communion," not even were we to touch the Lord's body a thousand times over, but "condemnation,""torment" and "increase of punishment..." - Saint John Chrysostom

"All the faithful are to be admitted to Holy Communion, except those who are prohibited for a just reason. The publicly unworthy, which are the excommunicated, those under interdict, and the manifestly infamous, such as prostitutes, those cohabiting, usurers, sorcerers, fortune-tellers, blasphemers and other sinners of the public kind, are, however, to be prevented, unless their penitence and amendment has been established and they will have repaired the public scandal." - Rituale Romanum
Francis DeBernardo of New Ways Ministry (gay group the Catholic Church has denounced many times) said, “It [the Archbishop's email] recognizes that people, in their consciences, have to weigh the church’s teachings in their own lives and relationships. That is authentic Catholic teaching. He’s [Archbishop Vignernon] not watering down anything. He’s proclaiming the church’s teaching more accurately than he did back then.”
Wrong. "Authentic Catholic" teaching on gay unions is very clear, yet the New Ways Ministry group continually reject authentic Catholic teaching when it doesn't suit their agenda.
And further, mortal sin does not depend solely on whether or not the sinner's conscience is clear. An unformed or deformed or warped conscience may never tell a person they are in a state of mortal sin.
I am reminded of GK Chesterton's saying "I do not need a Church to tell me I am wrong when I know I am wrong, I need a Church to tell me I am wrong when I think I'm right."
How true! Yet these progressives refuse any correction. Instead of listening, they picket and protest! How are they any different from Martin Luther before them?
Don't got soft Archbishop Vigneron - you won't be helping these people if you go soft on Church teaching.
*Most Rev. Raymond L. Burke, Archbishop of St. Louis: "The Fathers of the Church and approved theologians have addressed the Church's serious concern that due respect be paid to the Most Blessed Sacrament, that souls not fall into the sin of sacrilege by receiving the Body and Blood of Christ unworthily, and that scandal not be given to the faithful by a careless administration of the Holy Eucharist to individuals who clearly are not rightly disposed, that is, who obstinately persevere in manifest serious sin."

Bishop-elect Fr. Barron's Divine Comedy on Hell
Lately, Fr. Barron has been busy on Youtube leaving assorted distortions and confusing replies to the comments on his "we have a reasonable hope all people are saved" video, where two days ago he reasserted his 'hope' for universal salvation...
My focus is not on his video...but rather his replies (both new and old) to people who are confused by his statements that often conflict with the Church, the Bible and the writings of the Saints and Doctors of the Church.
Here is an old comment Fr. Barron made telling a woman TO speculate that "all will be saved" but DO NOT speculate that anyone will go to hell.
When people asked him about Ananias and Sapphira being saved or damned (Bible: Acts 5)...
Ananias and Sapphira5 "But a man named Ananias, with the consent of his wife Sapphira, sold a piece of property; 2 with his wife’s knowledge, he kept back some of the proceeds, and brought only a part and laid it at the apostles’ feet. 3 “Ananias,” Peter asked, “why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and to keep back part of the proceeds of the land? 4 While it remained unsold, did it not remain your own? And after it was sold, were not the proceeds at your disposal? How is it that you have contrived this deed in your heart? You did not lie to us but to God!” 5 Now when Ananias heard these words, he fell down and died. And great fear seized all who heard of it. 6 The young men came and wrapped up his body, then carried him out and buried him.7 After an interval of about three hours his wife came in, not knowing what had happened. 8 Peter said to her, “Tell me whether you and your husband sold the land for such and such a price.” And she said, “Yes, that was the price.” 9 Then Peter said to her, “How is it that you have agreed together to put the Spirit of the Lord to the test? Look, the feet of those who have buried your husband are at the door, and they will carry you out.” 10 Immediately she fell down at his feet and died. When the young men came in they found her dead, so they carried her out and buried her beside her husband. 11 And great fear seized the whole church and all who heard of these things."
...Barron ignored them and did not respond. I thought it was a good question and I would have liked seeing Barron's response.
So it's really no great wonder why the people leaving comments on Barron's Youtube Channel are so confused. Barron has stirred up valid questions and they aren't getting valid answers.
In the following comments we see exactly why Bishop-elect "hopes" all will be saved...he wonders if any human ever dies in a state of mortal sin:
How do we know anyone actually dies in mortal sin?? Really?
Looking around the world today, Fr. Barron questions whether or not people die in a state of mortal sin? This stuns me.
Oh well, that explains it!
I have no idea what Bishop-elect Barron is saying here (above). Is he saying because Christ calls 'us all' that 'all' will answer and be saved? He seems very focused on the word "all", while completely forgetting Sacred Scripture of Christ separating the sheep from the goats (Matthew 25).
Barron goes on with his "all" fascination:
I think I'm having a Clinton flash-back 'what is the meaning of is'!
Notice below that Fr. Barron poo-poos Church approved apparitions on revelation about hell, but he fully supports Dante's Divine Comedy (the "single tear") as a reliable source for information on hell and salvation.
...and here
now again just two days ago he uses Dante as proof...
And again he REALLY likes Dante:
Nothing against Dante...but I would take Sacred Scripture, the visions of hell and warnings of Our Lady of Fatima over Dante's Divine Comedy as a resource on Hell and the very real fact that people will spend eternity there.
One more thing... Barron isn't too fond of Church Militant's Michael Voris for pointing all this out over the years. ;)
Barron thinks Voris is a "bully" and says he won't respond to him...
...yet Barron says he DID respond to Voris...
In Christ and wondering what in Hell Bishop-elect Fr. Barron is talking about,

Why is Ben Carson duping Catholic religious?
This is very disappointing to me.
Ben Carson appears to me to be deceiving these Catholic nuns (among other Catholic religious). He tweeted the following image:
Did Carson tell them he's not the pro-life man he's falsely pretended to be for months?
I saw the photo re-tweeted by a good holy priest today, of Ben Carson speaking to these clapping and smiling nuns.
This good priest was totally unaware that Ben Carson supports the abortion drug RU-486 and is only pro-life AFTER 6 weeks when a heartbeat can be detected.
Once I shared this video with the priest...he thanked me and expressed his shock and disappointment...
...as did numerous other pro-lifers on Twitter who were duped by Ben Carson.
If you know pro-life supporters who are supporting Ben Carson, PLEASE share this information. Show them the video. Don't let them be deceived by this man who falsely claims to be pro-life when he's not.
